Compelling Community
If we’re going to be people with a compelling desire to do the will of God; a great place to start is by devoting ourselves to the things God is devoted to. In Ephesians 3 Paul shares about an unshakeable drive to serve and give his life for people he’d never even met – the Gentiles God called him to preach to. Once he had connected to these communities of new believers his passion was to help them grow to know and follow Christ wholeheartedly. We find this pattern in the New Testament that Jesus announced in John 13 – we know who followers of Jesus are by seeing their unshakeable devotion to the community of people God has called them to serve. Just as Jesus gave His life for the sake of the Church, he calls us to love one another with that same self-giving love. As we do that, we create a compelling community that nothing on Earth can imitate.
