Kingsley Church of Christ was started back in 1985 when the suburb of Kingsley was just being developed. A group of Christians started meeting in a local primary school and within 5 years, with help from other Churches of Christ in W.A., they had been able to build a church home on the corner of Barridale and New Cross roads.
A community where the pure & perfect life-giving love of God is experienced in all we do. We believe that anything that isn’t done in love doesn’t belong in God’s Church.
We share God’s love in a huge variety of ways – that’s the beauty of God’s design for the Church! We believe it takes a community of Christians to reflect the many flavours of God’s love to each other and those around them.
We believe that when people receive the love of God they grow. They grow closer to Him and to each other. They grow to become more like Jesus. This is why our church exists.
Because most of what we communicate isn’t through our words, it’s in our actions! We want to share God’s love in everything we do.
Words are still important! We want to talk about what God has done for us in Jesus. We want everyone to know the truth about how to know God and live as His child.
The story of how God has given us eternal life through Jesus is all about love.
Communities are the people you connect with. We share and declare the love of God in small groups that meet in homes, in activities at the church building during the week and in larger gatherings on Sundays. We reach out to the broader community of Kingsley and the surrounding suburbs and we also work with amazing partners who are sharing and declaring the love of God all around the world in many different ways.
The Bible is made up of the Old and New Testaments. Through the Holy Spirit God used imperfect human messengers to say and write exactly what He wanted them to in order to reveal His truth to humanity.
The Holy Spirit also helps us to understand what was written so we can know God and become part of His family through faith in Jesus.
The Bible shows us how to understand the past, live in the present and look forward to the future.
There is only one God, who is infinitely perfect, the Creator, Sustainer and Ruler of all things. He alone is worthy of our worship and our trust.
God exists in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
All people are made in the image of God and are therefore infinitely valuable and glorious.
All people have also rejected God’s rule and are tainted by sin. Sin ruins people and makes a mess of our world. It separates us from God and leaves us to try make life work on our own… which we can’t!
Despite our sin, we are all still loved by God who longs to forgive us and purify us so we can be part of His eternal Kingdom.
Through the power of the Holy Spirit a virgin conceived a child who was named Jesus. He was at the same time God the Son and a human being.
Jesus lived a life of perfect love toward God and people, yet He died by God’s will at human hands. From God’s point of view Jesus died to take the penalty and break the power of our sin so humans could be reconciled to God. From a human point of view, killing Jesus was the ultimate act of rebellion, yet even this did not stop God loving us.
Jesus did not stay dead. He rose again showing that He had overcome both sin and death on our behalf and is willing to forgive even the worst acts of rejection against God.
After appearing to more than 500 people Jesus returned to Heaven where He is preparing a place for all who love Him. He has promised to return one day to finally do away with sin and death and restore creation to God’s original good design.
Those who believe in Jesus will share eternity with Him, those who have not believed in Him will be shut out from His presence.
God the Father has called people from all places and times to belong to His Church through faith in Jesus. He prepares good works for us to do to advance the mission of the Church.
Jesus is the head of the Church which is His body on Earth. He has given us the mission of making disciples of all nations.
The Holy Spirit lives within each member of the Church, helping us to live in right relationship with God and each other, working together in the mission we’ve been given.
