Understanding the Time pt6 – Ready for Christ’s Return
After answering the disciples questions about the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem and His second coming, Jesus goes on to the application part of His message. He tells four stories all driving home the one basic idea – but it’s an idea that surprisingly easy to miss or get twisted up. We too often think Jesus is telling us how to be ready for His return – how we can make sure we’re on the right side of His judgement on that day. That’s seems close to what He’s saying, but it’s actually dangerously far from the point. After answering His disciples questions, Jesus is now answering one of His own. It’s not “How will people be ready?”, it’s “Who will be ready?”.
