Go with Humility
We’re back in the gospel of Matthew, picking up at chapter 18. It’s an exciting chapter as Jesus speaks about what His church is to be like, to the men who He’s trusting to get it started! The very first characteristic is Humility. The way to enter His kingdom is the same way to be great in it – with humility. We can’t rely on ourselves and it’s not all about ourselves! Jesus brings a little child into the group to contrast this attitude of trusting and enjoying Him with their own recent experiences. Just like they needed to change and become like little children in this way, most of us need to do that too! When we think about all the different parts of our lives, we find that we can be self-reliant and self-advancing too. How much better life is when we come back to simply responding to the call of Jesus with trust and delight in Him!
