Faith that Moves Mountains
Jesus’ promise that we will receive whatever we ask for in prayer has been widely misunderstood and misused, often with heartbreaking consequences for those with misplaced hope. We can trust this text, but we have to remember that any text, taken out of context, is a pretext! We don’t want to read our hopes for the future or our existing beliefs into what Jesus is saying. We want to understand what’s going on in the story so we can receive this promise confidently and do the things that only God’s power makes possible.
