1 Corinthians 3: Spiritual or Self-Deceived?

Have you ever had a strong disagreement with a fellow Christian, with both of you sure that you’re in the right? Has anyone ever spoken what they believed was truth from God to you, but you weren’t sure that it was? How can any of us know that what we believe about anything is actually wisdom from God?
We see this tension in Scripture all the time! The Church in Corinth was mature in knowledge, faith and service (ch.1) but the same person who affirmed that also described them as spiritual babies, acting like mere humans (ch. 3:1-4)! In this message we explore the way we so easily convince ourselves that we’re wise when we’ve actually swapped God’s Wisdom for human beliefs and behaviours. We confront the danger of confirmation bias, which has the power to both destroy relationships and build them; as we see happening so often in the world. What it can’t do is make us more like Jesus and form the unique community that is God’s Church. It takes wisdom from God to do that!
As we look over 1 Corinthians 3 we discover the principle that guards us from being self-deceived and equips us to be and to build the Church of God.
