1 Corinthians 14 – Gifts and Gender pt 2

In 1 Corinthians 14:26-40 the Apostle Paul finishes addressing two issues that he started looking at back in chapter 11 (Gender) and chapter 12 (Spiritual Gifts). These verses are among the most highly contested in all of Scripture, touching on two issues that Christians have disagreed about almost from the very beginning of the Church. How should spiritual gifts be expressed in gatherings of local churches; and what (if any) difference does our gender make in that?
Before we do a deep dive into the passage itself and other Scriptures that address these issues, we take time to follow Paul’s train of thought and the very important reason he paused in his discussion of these topics to focus on our unity and our diversity, which both come from God. He brought us back to the primacy of love which holds us together in unity so our diversity can be a force to move us forward rather than drive us apart.
