Michael Birch

Mike grew up in the Western Australian Goldfields town of Norseman where his parents worked as missionaries among indigenous Australians.  His teenage years were spent in the south-west coastal town of Busselton where he completed his secondary education in 1991.  For the next three years Mike studied Computing Science at Curtin University and became involved in youth leadership at South Perth Church of Christ.  His growing involvement in church-based voluntary ministry saw him head off to Perth Bible College in 1996 where he completed a Diploma in Christian Ministry specialising in youth ministry.

After marrying Carolyn in January 1999 Mike then returned to Busselton as a youth pastor at the Busselton Church of Christ for 3 years before moving into general pastoral ministry at the Narembeen Church of Christ in the W.A. wheatbelt.  Mike and Carolyn enjoyed 8 years of ministry in the church and community at Narembeen, during which time their children Timothy, Alyssa and Josiah were born.

Michael & Carolyn began ministry at Kingsley at the end of January 2010, and are excited to see what God is unfolding in their life and in the life of the Kingsley Church of Christ.

Mike's passion in ministry is to see the church fully engage with it's mission to make disciples of Jesus Christ.  Mike sees his primary role as providing biblical teaching, training and leadership which helps people to be transformed to be more like Jesus and represent Him well to the world.  For Mike the Christian life revolves around honouring God, experiencing His blessing and sharing that blessing with others - or to put it another way, loving God and loving others as ourselves.

Some of Mike's hobbies are tinkering with technology, making noise on his guitar and huffing & puffing on a basketball or volleyball court!  He loves being a husband and father, and considers this to be his first ministry focus and joy in life.
